A heart-stopping finale in the 49th ADAC TOTAL 24h Race at the Nordschleife: at the finish line, the winning Manthey Porsche was only 8.817 seconds ahead of the second-placed ROWE BMW, while the cars in third to seventh place were all covered by a mere 5.6 seconds.
A long interruption due to fog was the reason that there was only 3.5 hours of driving time left after the restart. The result: a sprint race decided on the outcome of the 24-hour race.
Indeed, the race produced a new all-time low with less than ten hours of driving time. Once again, weather conditions at the Nürburgring were the reason, as they prevented any longer driving.
At the finish, it was a close call in many of the 24 different classes, be it the Porsche Cayman Cup, production cars up to 2,000 cc with turbocharged engines, specials up to 2,600 cc with turbocharged engines and up to 4,000 cc with turbocharged engines, GT4 or TCR: here, the winning margins were tiny.
This year’s 24h annual again includes extensive coverage of the full action in all the classes of the 24h race, as well as the races on the support package and the practice session.
