It was in 1990 that Alessandro Bianchi, fresh from important organisational and racing experience in historic cars, called some friends asking them to participate to his idea of founding a new sports team, that called Sportitalia Team.

The ambitious programme was to bring the most beautiful historic cars and best drivers to the most important events.

Many accepted with enthusiasm, but certainly no one could have imagined that, in just three racing seasons, that small club of gentlemen-drivers would become the biggest team in the sector, with about fifty drivers and even more cars, overall Italian champion for the 1992 season, and with 28 category champion drivers.

This growth exceeded all forecasts, to the point of requiring an organisation, including logistics, worthy of a modern professional racing team.

Many are the cars of collectors' and sporting interest, from Fiat 1100 TV to Cisitalia 202, from Lancia Aurelia B20 to Fulvia Sport Zagato, from Alfa Romeo Giulietta T.I. to 2600 Sprint, from Ferrari 166 Vignale to Porsche 356.

The list of drivers also includes well-known names in motorsport, such as Clay Regazzoni (president) and Luigi Moreschi, and many specialists in historic cars.

Along with the need for a logistic organisation, there was also the idea of a publication that could recount the growing activity of the team, describing events, races, protagonists, initiatives, and trips linked to the sporting effort, but not only.

After three single issues - 3 Anni di conquiste 1990 - 1991 - 1992, Dedicato a..., e Noi Gentlemen Drivers - the Sportitalia Team publications will then come out on a quarterly and four-monthly frequency.
