Conceived by a very young Vincenzo Florio, scion of the great family of shipowners and industrialists, the race brought an agricultural area, still dominated by a feudal economy, to the forefront of international sporting and social news.
Against the backdrop of a great speed challenge, the book allows us to appreciate a place that, from the sea to the mountains, preserves extraordinary beauty and traditions, as well as - who would have thought it - the highest rate of biodiversity in Europe.
