The Targa Florio marked the Sicilian history and culture in such a way that it has maybe not been completely understood even now. In 1906 the ambitions and the progressive visions of a young entrepreneur, Vincenzo Florio, lighted the cars engines in a distante and backlog place as the Sicilian hinterland was. Everything else is now a history that - thanks to the new illustrated tables by Francesco Accardi, a car enthusiast and lover of the legendary race - we can retrace in one shot, from the frst edition to the 1977’s. This collection of colourful images - most of which made more precious with the autographs of those champions who attended the race - is able to catapult the reader into the legend. The introduction written by Angelo Pizzuto, president of the Automobile Club Palermo; the preface written by Filippo Mulè, a first-rate journalist of Giornale di Sicilia, an attestation by the driver Nino Vaccarella and the official race data sheets complete the book, recalling all the drivers, the places and the unforgettable protagonists of this world-famous event.
