For more than a decade, from 1939 to 1952, the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 played a role of Italian production admiral and had the privilege of attracting the most qualified work of the great coachbuilders in a very fertile period in creative terms.

A period in which the world, shaken by the catastrophe of the war, saw the condition, ideas, culture and very life of millions of people change while - with undoubted correlation - automotive style even underwent a genetic mutation.

To the 6C 2500, the last of the classic Alfa Romeos, which for some time rose to become the status symbol of a small international elite, this volume dedicates an exciting collection of more than 400 period images, which with rigorous thematic and graphic coherence admirably narrate its genesis, the fertile evolution of its forms, and its rise to the heights of extraordinary elegance.

Angelo Tito Anselmi, one of the most well-known and respected Italian automotive historians and author of this work, has given us a magnificent historical-aesthetic analysis of the car.

To Giuseppe Busso, who although not working on the 6C 2500 project was an attentive and competent witness to it, we owe a technical profile that sheds light not only on the objective reality of mechanics but on the whole period, in part still obscure yet very much alive, of Alfa Romeo.

Luigi Orsini completes the overview by examining the racing activity of the car, which was intense and far from insignificant in its results, even in the absence of a specific vocation.

Extensive and valuable appendices enrich this exceptionally prestigious edition that clearly documents, with historical rigour, design and manufacturing processes, the racing career and the minutest details of production of the car that in 1950 the prestigious Automobil Revue defined "l'orgueil d'Italie".

Among these was the "Registro generale dei modelli 6C 2500" (General Register of 6C 2500 models), based on data available in the official sales register, and completed with an important quantity of information taken from documentary research and surveys of existing cars. It includes chassis and engine number, date of chassis preparation and car delivery, coachbuilder and shape, first buyer.
