Carambola! (nessun danno alle persone), an original title for a book published in 1996 in a limited edition, with texts of Luigi Orsini and images by Corrado Millanta, a photographer of great technical skill and inimitable promptness, though not a professional.

Not linked to any commission, he enjoyed a trusting relationship with car manufacturers and fraternal friendship with designers and drivers. Often companions and accomplices in pranks played during the long and uncomfortable trips, some of these (above all Felice Bonetto, Giovanni Bracco, Nino Farina and even Juan Manuel Fangio) would come to "pose" for him by modifying imperceptibly the trajectory, almost winking at him, during the races.

And it is a little posthumous joke of Corrado Millanta's to have left us in his archive the stills for these thirty sequences that capture the moment of clumsiness, confusion or near disasters (always bloodless) of well-known or unknown drivers, in a period of time ranging from 1936 to 1958. The second and last half of what are considered the magic years of Italian motor racing, not only for the quality of sporting results, but also for the crowd's enthusiasm.
