Elio de Angelis was an Italian motor racing talent for sure. National champion in Formula 3 in 1977, two years after makes his debut in Formula 1 in the Grand Prix of Argentina, with the Shadow. In 1980 he passed to the Lotus, with whom he remained for the next six years, two wins, 10 podiums and three pole positions. In 1986 he was then hired by Brabham, with which only four races competed.
He died in Marseilles for the consequences of a serious accident which occurred on May 14, during a session of testing at the French circuit Paul Ricard, in Le Castellet.
