This book, published in 1998, is not designed to be an authoritative analysis of the history and development of Lotus, from its early beginnings of Austin Seven Specials built by Colin Chapman, to the multi-million pound car manufacturer and specialised engineering company that it has become in the first 50 years.
It is more of a reference book which sets out to highlight, in the five decades since its beginning, the majority of the cars and events that have made Lotus what it is today.
The author has the hope that this book will produce an insight into the achievements of its founder, Colin Chapman. His ingenuity, innovation, dedication and constant enthusiasm led Lotus racing cars to become World Motor Racing Champions on no less than 7 times: 1963, 1965, 1968, 1970, 1972, 1973 and 1978.
