The 2010 World Superbike Championship closed with the success of a pilot Italian, Max Biaggi, riding an Aprilia, the Italian motorbike.
Now the 2011 Championship game started with Carlos Checa and Ducati in the leading role, until now, almost uncontested.
Among the novelty of this season there even the debut of another rider, Marco Melandri, with the Yamaha.
