The company Wiesmann was founded in Westphalia by brothers Friedhelm and Martin Wiesmann in 1985, when at the Motor Show in Essen they decided to found a real home builder specializing in special cars, over the top. To procure the necessary funds at the start of car production, beginning the Wiesmann producing rigid roofs for convertibles. The Wiesmann logo is a gecko, because the same house paints (correctly) its models like cars that are stuck to the road "as the geckos on the walls".
