Technical development in motorsports reached a new peak in 1992. Nissan, Toyota, Peugeot, Chevrolet, Jaguar, Mazda, Acura, Lola and BRM were involved in the sports cars. Engines with eight, ten, or even twelve cylinders were used on three continents.

Nissan triumphed at Daytona, while Peugeot beat the Japanese challengers at Le Mans. Toyota ended Nissan's longstanding dominance in the IMSA series, but had to admit defeat to its rival in the Japanese sports car championship.

The high-revving, naturally aspirated 3.5-liter engines favored by FISA already produced over 700 hp, but were still outclassed in this respect by the turbos used in America and Japan. Active suspensions, automatic transmissions and carbon-fiber brakes were being developed or were already in use. At Le Mans, Peugeot was the first car to win with power steering.

World Sportscar Racing '92 covers racing and technology in the World Sportscar Championship as it moves from Monza to Le Mans and Suzuka to Magny-Cours. It follows the action in the American IMSA Camel GT Series, the Japanese Sportscar Championship and the Interserie.

World Sportscar Racing '92 is published in German and English, written by an international team of journalists.
