They were two boys who lived in Sanremo, on the edge of the land of Liguria. So on the edge of Italy. Far from the ganglia of Italian racing motorsport.

Two exceptional talents. Two rewarding careers. From rallies to the track they had quickly climbed the stages of success to both reach the threshold of the myth: the signing of Ferrari.

Instead the one, Franco Patria, left us just when he was already in the anteroom of Maranello. And the other, Leo Cella, who had entered the "Drake" room, had preferred to postpone the approach due to excess of scruple and sense of responsibility.

The paradox: Patria, instinctive and aggressive, dies very young from a standstill due to the fatal mistake of another driver on the Monthlery track.

And Cella, precise, methodical and prudent, dies in a trivial test on the Balocco track with an Alfa Romeo Sport "33" that betrays him.

The story of the two careers that partly intertwine, come together and follow one another tells of an era, an environment, a world of racing from the 1960s that fascinates.
