The "Gilena International Motor Books" bookshop is the result of the passion and expertise of Pier Luigi Foglieni, whose love for books and engines has deep, lifelong roots.
As a child in short trousers, Gigi (as his friends know and call him) loved racing toy cars along the streets of his hometown, Martinengo.
Later, as a young man, he went on to win three Italian Championship titles in 1980, 1981, and 1982, driving the roaring Fiat Ritmo 60 and 65 Group 2, and the 125 Abarth Group A, tuned by Trivellato.
Meanwhile, he gained valuable experience in the publishing sector as a Fabbri salesman for major works, before taking the leap and launching his own business thanks to his determination and initiative.
In 1972, he moved to Costa Volpino, and in 1975, he founded "Gilena Diffusione Libro", making a name for himself at industry trade fairs.
His immense and unforgettable passion for engines led him to specialize in this niche, becoming highly respected by an ever-growing clientele of car, motorcycle, and scale-model enthusiasts both in Italy and abroad.
He has played a leading role in numerous international events, always showcasing thousands of volumes to the delight of avid enthusiasts who never miss the classic car markets and autojumbles. From the Auto e Moto d'Epoca fair in Padua to the Turin Motor Show, from Techno-Classica Essen to Rรฉtromobile in Paris... always striving to meet the demands of a loyal and dedicated clientele.
In 2001 came another milestone: the opening of the retail store in the city of Brescia.
