Formula 2 is a category in which few future protagonists have stayed long, except for Graham Hill and Ronnie Peterson.
But all the great drivers have been through it before continuing their career in Formula 1 or prototypes and finding them here holds great discoveries.
Just look at the roll of honour to realize that the drivers who graduated from formula 2 have subsequently emerged also in the Olympus of formula 1.
It is no coincidence that one of the few publications on the subject is entitled 'Formula Two forge of champions '.
The growing success of this category in historical races is easily explained by the attractive appearance and human dimensions of these cars.
Another reason is probably the sound of their engines and the reliability of these cars, not so widespread in those days.
