The 1950s was a particularly good decade for Simca. Thanks to a brilliant commercial policy and numerous variants, the Aronde managed to transform the brand from a simple French subsidiary of Fiat into a manufacturer that counted on the European scene.
However, Simca's managers were well aware that success could not last forever, and the replacement of these emblematic cars was planned as early as the mid-1950s.
After a hesitant genesis, faced with the crucial challenge of pushing Simca into the 1960s, the Simca 1300 and 1500 were unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1963, where they immediately impressed visitors with their elegant and innovative lines.
While the styling of these new cars undeniably marked a complete break with the previous decade, the mechanicals would remain faithful to the Aronde and Ariane heritage for another seven years.
The last cars to be designed by "Monsieur Simca", Henri-Théodore Pigozzi, these vehicles were born at the height of the yé-yé era and won the hearts of over a million Europeans.
The numerous variants form a genuine range, with a touch of sportiness in the 1301 and 1501 versions, but always with the elegance that embodies good taste "à la française".
