Soichiro Honda, a brilliant inventor, an unrivalled mechanic with an innate talent, an unusual and extremely creative man, never wanted to talk about himself, convinced that the name Honda should be associated with a brand rather than with his person.

Only after years of contact did he agree to meet journalist Yves Derisbourg to tell him his story, just a few weeks before his death on 5 August 1991.

Il signor Honda, more than a story, is almost a testament. It is a saga in which Soichiro Honda reveals his vision of the world, of a culture and tradition in Japan in rapid change, his company, his family, religion, women, inventions, philosophy, joys, success but also defeats.

In addition to the preface by his son Hirotoshi, the book presents the testimony of those who knew Soichiro Honda during his life, like his favourite Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna, and the chairman of Honda, Nobuhiko Kawamoto.

A description of the Honda empire around the world and a complete list of major sporting results since 1964 complete the volume.

Second edition, published in 2007.
