Monaco has a special place in motor sport. In 1890, the Sport Vélocipédique Monégasque (today the Automobile Club de Monaco) organised the first Monte Carlo Rally. In 1929, the Principality hosted its first Formula 1 Grand Prix. Since then, the Principality has been the scene of many historic feats and records, duels between legendary drivers and sensational victories.
Of all the Grand Prix disputed in Formula 1, the Monaco Grand Prix is undoubtedly the most prestigious. From 1950 to 1965, the great photographer Edward Quinn immortalised what can be considered Monaco's golden era.
