Gilles Fournier, passed away in June 2023, remains the author of the book on Amilcar (1986), still considered a benchmark in the world of microcar and cyclecar enthusiasts.
Since discovering and falling in love with the roar of the Amilcar 6-cylinder engine, he had patiently collected and compiled an impressive amount of documentation in order to bring this brand, which had been overshadowed by its prestigious rivals, out of anonymity.
The writing of this book, to which he had devoted himself with his characteristic meticulousness and precision, was interrupted by his death, when only part of volume 1 had been completed. Pascal Legrand, with whom he worked, accepted the challenge of continuing the work, now available to the public.
850 pages in two volumes in a hardback box set, with over 1800 illustrations and photos:
- Volume 1 is dedicated to the official 6-cylinder models (the genesis of car, the different official models and their use in competitions by the car manufacturer, after a brief history of brand and 4-cylinder races). Genesis of the C6 “client”.
- Volume 2 focuses on private 6-cylinder cars (C6 and ex-factory cars) around the world.
