When BMW Motorsport GmbH developed the BMW M1 and this mid-engined coupé, with its aggressive design, celebrated its world debut at the Paris Motor Show in October 1978, you could already sense that the boys from Munich had managed to create a legend.
Illustrated with numerous, rarely seen photos from the BMW Group archives, the genesis of the M1 - street version as well as racing version - is described.
