With this seventh part in the Car Racing collection, the search continues in the DPPI agency's photo archives, which contain tens and tens of thousands of images.

As always, the pleasure of rediscovering the beautiful forgotten photo, the moment that marked the history of the sport, the mythical landscape or the insight into the technical breakthrough that would revolutionise motor racing.

It all began in the relative calm of motor shows, where in 1971 the Alpine A310, the Alfa Romeo Montréal, the Ligier JS2 and the spectacular Lamborghini Countach appeared. But the adventure began in the hustle and bustle of a race paddock.

For technology enthusiasts, photographers have a lot to enjoy, because craftsmen and manufacturers have a wealth of ideas for constantly increasing the speed of their cars. Installing a turbine in a Formula One car was no problem for Colin Chapman, who was always looking for technological innovations for his Lotus cars.

And when you see pictures of the intricacies of some of these solutions, you can better understand not only why records are broken year after year, but also the reasons why drivers are very often forced to leave their vehicles at the side of the track or on the road, and their mechanics severely strained…

Car Racing 1971 uses the treasures of the DPPI photo agency archive to offer a unique insight into the atmosphere of motor sport at the time. Founded in 1965 by photographers fascinated by the passion of the circuits and the courage of the drivers, the DPPI agency has always been close to the action. And in the 1960s and 1970s, the term was no exaggeration!

One of the strengths of this collection is that it never deviates from its initial objective, which is to present an essentially photographic editorial approach.

Each time, the strongest and most unusual images are favoured, or those that capture the atmosphere of the period, even if they were taken during minor events
