Éric Bhat was fascinated by Patrick Depailler, whom he had observed during a Grand Prix in Pau. Depailler had started racing motorcycles with the help of Jean-Pierre Beltoise and rapidly distinguished himself.
In 1976, Éric entered the world of sports journalism, the same year that Depailler drove the six-wheeled Tyrrell. In 1979, one worked for Grand Prix International magazine and the other, at Ligier, became one of the favourites in the F1 world championship. They met regularly during Grand Prix races, strengthening their friendship.
When Patrick died tragically in 1980, his son Loïc was only 7 years old. He soon shared the same passion for mechanics and racing. Loïc and Éric trace a parallel portrait father and son, aided by numerous testimonials.
Depailler par Depailler, fruit of their friendship, explores the theme of generations and pays tribute to Patrick Depailler in its 224 pages and 177 images.
