The VW Beetle soon became too small for the wealthy citizens of the economic miracle age. Buyers and dealers demanded a “big Volkswagen”. They got the Typ 3, from which was born the legendary Karmann-Ghia Coupé, and the Typ 4 (411), built from 1968 to 1974.
The authors, Eberhard Kittler and Joachim Kuch, focus on the last air-cooled Wolfsburg models that never really succeeded in leaving from the shadow of the legendary Beetle.
