Ducati: I modelli che hanno fatto la storia traces the long and fascinating evolution of the Bologna-based manufacturer. It all began in the post-war period with a simple auxiliary engine designed to be fitted to bicycles: the famous Cucciolo.

It was with this simple yet effective accessory that the Ducati name first entered the two-wheeled world. From those early steps, the brand has made an extraordinary journey, arriving today to dominate the blue-ribbon category of motorcycle racing, MotoGP, with the formidable Desmosedici GP.

Between these two historical and technological extremes - the Cucciolo and the Desmosedici - lies a vast production history characterized by unique styling and engineering choices. Standing out above all is the desmodromic valve control system Desmo, the brilliant brainchild of engineer Fabio Taglioni.

Originally developed as an exclusive technology for racing, the desmo system entered mass production in the 1960s on the legendary single-cylinder, single-shaft engines.

The book then guides the reader through all the milestones of Ducati’s history: the advent of the L-twin engines, the unforgettable victory at the 200 Miglia di Imola, the introduction of the famous Pantah series, right up to the generational leap represented by the Desmoquattro, the liquid-cooled, four-valve L-twin engine.

This innovation ushered in Ducati's modern era, leading to World Superbike triumphs and the birth of undisputed market icons, most notably the Monster range.

Through specific and detailed profiles for each motorcycle, enriched by historical background texts, precise technical data, and a rich array of color and black-and-white illustrations, Franco Daudo's work stands as a true encyclopedia of the models that have forged the legend of the two-wheeled "Rossa".
