In a lively dialogue-interview with Elvira Ruocco – the woman who directed the Alfa Romeo Historical Archive for almost forty years, helping to save it from oblivion – the history of the prestigious Milanese brand and the men who made it famous throughout the world is revealed.
The backdrop is made up of countless and often dramatic events that, from the beginnings of Società Italiana Automobili Darracq in 1906, the first nucleus of what would later become Alfa Romeo, lead up to the sale of the company to the Fiat group in 1986, and then to 2005, when the time came for Ruocco to retire.
Ruocco manages to shed a special light on all these events, whether well-known, little-known or completely unknown, having experienced them first-hand, heard them directly from the protagonists, or discovered them in her long and meticulous archival work.
In the narrative, her authentic Neapolitan character emerges, just like Nicola Romeo, founder of Alfa, and her deep love for the Casa del Biscione, a large family in which everyone, managers, employees and workers alike, have always been proud to be part of.
Elvira Ruocco - Alfa Romeo, tra storia e passione is a 304-page book with colour and b/w photos. Text in Italian.
