The Sassari Circuit, also known as the "Circuit of Platamona", although it was also disputed in Porto Torres, is part of those pioneering races, born on the enthusiastic momentum of the nascent mass motorization.
Involved the public for the novelty constituted by a race of speed on the circuit, never seen before and never seen after, but also for the big names of the Italian motoring that participated in the various editions, from Ghersi to Castelbarco, Cortese, Bellucci, Villoresi , De Filippis, up to the debutant Bandini, future official Ferrari driver.
It ceased to exist at the end of the fifties, also due to the ever-increasing regulatory restrictions that led to the disappearance of major road races.
