Formula 5000 engine was a formula that was disputed in various countries between 1968 and 1982. Intended as a low-cost formula was open to the open-wheel cars that did not meet the parameters required by the other categories. The name derives from the fact that the maximum allowable displacement was precisely of 5 liters.
