Introduced in the early 1980s into the growing compact family car market, the Lancia Delta was intended for drivers who wanted the refined performance of a luxury car in a less voluminous body.
Based on technical solutions worthy of the Lancia tradition, the Delta was elected car of the year in 1980, in Europe.
The Delta range, developed until the early 1990s, included more powerful engines, increasingly luxurious trim and sophisticated all-wheel-drive versions.
The Delta competed for years in the World Rally Championship, running under Group B and A regulations and winning six world titles.
With almost 500,000 cars produced in twelve years, including some valuable models, unique pieces or made in a few dozen units, the Delta was a remarkable commercial success.
