It has now been forgotten, but amidst the reign of the 504 and 205, the 305 was a star of the lion manufacturer.

After a successful commercial debut at the end of 1977, this family car was the third best-selling car in France in 1979.

Its comfort, robustness and classic line, due to Peugeot's style centre, conquered an ever-widening public and made the 305 the ideal car for an entire generation.

It was also the subject of surprising experiments in styling, competition and energy-saving research.

However, its success declined from 1980 onwards, forcing the Lion to take a quality step forward. This happened with the 305 series 2, based on improvements of the Vera prototypes, new XU engines and electronic devices that established Peugeot's supremacy in this field.

La Peugeot 305 de mon père, full of testimonies, anecdotes and previously unpublished photos, offers an insight into this pivotal model, between two crucial eras for Peugeot, with 1.6 million units produced up to 1990.
