Paolo Rampini was born in December 1949 in Milan, the city where he has always lived. He had a passion for toy cars since he was a child.

"At 13 years old, he had a collection of 150 models". After 50 years of collecting, he still has a collection of around 12,000 pieces, most of which are die-cast models.

Paolo Rampini started his career as publisher and author of books on antique toys and model cars in 1982. From then to 2023 he has produced 29 paper books, among which The Golden Book of Model Cars (1995), and the books on Bburago and Brumm stand out for their interest and success.

This book must be intended exclusively as an incomplete photographic collection of Hot Wheels modelcars (1968-2000).

Generally, the symbol ( ) appears with the year of production inside: it's the first year of production, but generally the modelcars have been produced for several years.

All the pieces photographed belong to the author collection, about 9000 items. The author, obviously, took photos of the most interesting pieces.

Mattel was founded in 1945 in El Segundo/California by Elliott Handler and Harold Matson. The name Mattel comes from the beginning of the surname Matson and the name Elliott.

Production was geared towards plastic and metal toys of various types. In 1968, Mattel proposed a number of 1/64 metal models with the name Hot Wheels.

This book, amply illustrated, with a comprehensive bibliography, counts 272 pages.
