Dante Busi lives on the Appennino Bolognese and gets along in his life as it fills with car racing. He has courage and talent, but he lacks the money to show everyone how capable he is with a steering wheel in his hands. He would need a stroke of luck, of those that happen only in the movies, so when he meets a disquieting type and who comes from afar can not resist his proposal: an almost impossible challenge with ambiguous contours. It can be the affair of his life because he can allow him to enter the world of rallies from the front door.
Sandro Panzacchi grows at the "Resto del Carlino": he has passed the fifty without a satisfaction even if he started working very young and with the road in front. In life, in order to climb positions and highlight oneself, we need skills, but also courage and ambition. On the contrary, his way of being a journalist brings him closer to a typist than to a writer, and he has good reason to believe that the right opportunity to turn will no longer come.
The streets of Busi and Panzacchi run through different and distant paths and they would never have intertwined if in a wholly random manner a magistrate from Foggia, who investigates a mysterious death of an informer of the Guardia di Finanza, had not put himself in the middle of overturning their destinies.
Against the background of a Bologna that lives in the '70s, not because of their complexity but only with the regret for that nocturnal and hospitable city that will never come back, the human and professional stories of the three characters and their women are screwed together with a single nexus: a black Porsche.
