Many others, on the other hand, have hoped, tried everything and forced every door to become Ferrari drivers, but in the end they didn't make it.

This book is dedicated to them, to the losers in that real race within the race that has taken place over the decades to secure the seat in a Ferrari F1 car.

Here are the stories of ten drivers (Senna, Patrese, Hunt, Cheever, Moss, Kubica, Nannini, Fittipaldi, Peterson and Martini), some of them young talents, others already stars of absolute greatness, who came very close to crowning their dream, with the signing of a contract or a binding option, but had to surrender when stronger candidates or inexplicable political games, incautious procrastination or fatal impatience prevailed.
