This book came to life under extraordinary circumstances: four owners of surviving Squire cars pooled their resources to commission renowned automotive historian Jonathan Wood to write the definitive history of the marque, prompting him to postpone his retirement.

The result is Squire: the Man, the Cars, the Heritage, published in 2015, a masterful tribute that preserves the legacy of one of Britain's most fascinating and rarest sports cars.

Content and structure.
The narrative is spread across nine chapters that chronicle the life of Adrian Squire, a dashing young designer who founded his company at the age of 21. His uncompromising vision was to build the finest English sports car of its era. Though his life was cut short at 30 during a 1940 air raid, his engineering legacy remains legendary.

The centerpiece of the volume is a 108-page section titled "The Squire Car-by-Car". Because the factory completed only seven original chassis (with two more completed later), Wood is able to meticulously document the individual pedigree, ownership history, and restoration details of every single Squire ever made.

The book concludes with 10 appendices packed with historical reference material and a highly detailed index.

Awards and Recognition.

The depth of Wood's research and the book's high production value earned it significant awards: the 2016 Cugnot Award Winner from the Society of Automotive Historians, and the 2016 Specialist Book Award Winner in the Royal Automobile Club's Motoring Book of the Year competition.

Squire: the Man, the Cars, the Heritage features 421 pages and over 300 images, in colour and b/w. Text in English.
