Storia dell'automobilismo toscano 1893-1906. I pionieri - le prime automobili, published in 1976, explores a subject that until then had been very little studied, that of the pioneers of motoring in Florence and, more generally, in Tuscany.

The author, a great enthusiast of historical research, used family archives, documents of various kinds and provenance, old photographs and correspondence of the time, as well as personal testimonies and memories in compiling the text.

Even the foundation of the Automobil Club of Florence - hitherto shrouded in uncertainty due to the almost complete loss of its archives - has been made more precise by the documents in family archives and also by the discovery made in Turin of a printed list of members, i.e. pioneers, registered in the year 1905.

A fascinating historical overview that portrays Tuscan pioneering, with the makes of early automobiles - Fiat, De Dion Bouton, Florentia, Mercedes-Daimler, Panhard-Levassor, Renault, Zust - the first registrations and automobile licences, and the earliest competitions.
