In The Rise of the Trident, the first seven chapters explore the different Maserati Tipo 26 models: 26, 26B, 26MM, 26B MM, 26R, 26C, 26C MM and the Tipo 26M and 26MM, all equipped with 2.5, 2.8 and 3-litre engines.
The eighth chapter is about the history of the 16-cylinder V4 and V5 models, which are contemporaries of the Tipo 26. The historical sections give a yearly overview of Grand Prix races, sports cars, and voiturettes. These overviews come before the description of each batch of cars produced in the year in question.
For every car produced, a detailed description of each chassis is followed by a complete list of appearances and results in races of the period (up to 1954), and profiles of the drivers, owners, entrants, teams and related personalities mentioned in the book.
The ninth chapter offers a detailed technical description of every model, with particular attention to its evolution through a list of all the improvements and/or differences between the different cars. The text focuses strictly on contemporary sporting history, excluding the subsequent history of the surviving cars.
