In 1919, a young Ugo Zagato opened his first workshop for car and aircraft bodywork in Milan. In the 1920s, Zagato specialised in luxury and racing, becoming a key partner of the Alfa Romeo factory and later the Scuderia Ferrari.
After the Second World War, Zagato became a major player in the development of the Gran Turismo. Under the leadership of Ugo Zagato's sons, Elio and Gianni, the prestigious Milanese coachbuilder developed a semi-industrial dimension.
Aficionados will remember in particular the exceptional sporting saga of the Alfa Romeo SZ and TZ. The company, always a pioneer in innovation, developed limited series of exceptional models that became "classics" much sought after by collectors.
At the beginning of the 1990s, the third generation, embodied by Andrea and his wife Marella Rivolta, took the reins of a company in full development.
The Zagato Total Design Studio, capable of producing both supercars and futuristic public transport vehicles with advanced technology, today preserves all the creativity and craftsmanship of a genius craftsman in its workshops.
Zagato: Chef-d'oeuvre du design features 208 richly illustrated pages. Text in French.
