This interesting work by Gérard Crombac was published in 1989, when turbines were no longer allowed to race by the International Automobile Federation.
Although the history of motorsport is marked by the use of turbine-powered cars, which from the mid-1950s to the early 1970s competed in both F1 and World Sport at Indianapolis, they never achieved any significant success, sometimes due to minor accidents.
Be that as it may, one cannot judge the real potential of turbines for the simple reason that those we saw in motor racing were aircraft or industrial turbines, hastily adapted for this particular use.
Turbine Grand Prix retraces, with a wealth of details and images, the technical and sporting history of this use, illustrating the advantages and disadvantages of applying turbines in the sporting world, and explaining why they were not developed.
