There is no doubt that we are facing the definitive book on the work of Wifredo Ricart at CETA - Centro de Estudios Técnicos de Automoción - and Pegaso.
As its author indicates in the prologue, it is the result of many years of study to bring to light in a timely and documented way the projects of everything that has been studied, designed and not always built in CETA and Pegaso: engines of all kinds, sports and representation cars, trucks, buses, gas turbines, etc.
The sources used are all the projects started from 1946 to the 1970s, plus the minutes of the Board of Directors of ENASA and the National Institute of Industry.
To this must be added the personal correspondence of Suanzes in his phases as president of the INI and Minister of Industry, as well as the letters from Ricart, which include his correspondence with Enzo Ferrari, a documentation never published before and which provides unsuspected personal data, which certainly clarify the relationship and disagreement between the two characters.
Another important contribution of the book, very focused on the continuous development of sports and representation cars, is the detailed and documented study of the collaboration between Ferrari and Touring, interrupted by the projects for Pegaso and in turn the started Pininfarina-Pegaso, which was aborted after Farina's agreement with Ferrari.
The finished design of the large Pegaso saloon with Touring bodywork, scheduled for construction in Barajas in 1954, after the completion of the Z-102 series, is documented and analysed in detail.
The latest Z-105, Z-106 and Z-107 car and engine designs, as well as the front-wheel drive compact car, were developed by Ricart at CETA, already outside ENASA.
Its parallelism with Alfa Romeo's Alfetta and Alfasud models is of great historical interest, arousing many reflections.
