Following five years of research by author Davide Bassoli, the new book about the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and Bentley T Series is now available, coinciding with the 60th Anniversary of the models. The book consists of 437 photographs, most of them previously unreleased, and 44 technical drawings.
The Magic of a Shadow starts with the description of the Silver Shadow and the T Series launched at the end of September 1965, with full description of the technological revolution introduced with these models. A chapter is dedicated to the studies lasted eleven years to reach the definitive SY series, which will turn into the Silver Shadow.
The two-door saloon and convertible versions produced by H. J. Mulliner, Park Ward, which will be named Corniche by 1971, are extensively described. A chapter is also dedicated to the Camargue introduced in 1975 and styled by Pininfarina.
The continuous developments brought during the fifteen years of production are fully described, supported by dedicated photographs. The long wheelbase version, the second series introduced in 1977, the evolution of the Corniche from 1980 to the last series in 1995, and a number of special versions (including the James Young two-door saloon) are described extensively.
A dedicated chapter consisting of previously unreleased drawings from the collection of the former H. J. Mulliner, Park Ward technical manager George Moseley, reveals the studies made of alternative styles for the Silver Shadow and Corniche.
The Magic of a Shadow, the definitive book about the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, the Corniche, the Camargue and the Bentley derivatives.
