The Bugatti Type 59 Book is a monumental three-volume work, considered the first and only comprehensive study dedicated exclusively to the legendary Bugatti Type 59.

It was created by a team of marque experts led by historian Julius Kruta, and represents a masterpiece both for its previously unpublished historical content and the exceptional physical quality of the object itself.

This specific collector's series celebrates the only five original Bugatti Type 59s that have survived to the present day. Hence the choice to produce five different variants, each with a custom cover dedicated to a specific car. Each variant is printed in a limited run of just 59 copies worldwide. The copy presented here is the Roi des Belges Edition.

Contents of the Three VolumesThe entire work spans approximately 920 pages and explores the car from three highly distinct angles:

  • Volume 1 - Development and Engineering: Dedicated entirely to the genesis of the Type 59 and its derivatives. Inside, you will find exclusive CAD illustrations created specifically for this publication, alongside original factory drawings that lay bare its complex engineering architecture.
  • Volume 2 - Racing History: A rigorous race-by-race chronicle of the years the car competed. This volume is visually stunning, supported by never-before-seen period photographs, posters, and artwork that convey the atmosphere and the challenges faced on the track.
  • Volume 3 - Legacy and Biographies: The concluding book traces the individual history of each surviving car, from the post-war period to the present day. It also contains detailed biographies of the drivers, engineers, and custodians who have preserved these cars over the decades.

Design and Technical Features
Beyond the extraordinary value of the text, the layout and the materials chosen make this work a true collector's item:

  • Printing and Format: The three books are hardbound in a large square format of 33 x 34 cm. They were printed and bound in Germany using a five-color process to ensure the highest visual fidelity for the period images and technical blueprints.
  • Designer Slipcase: The volumes are presented inside an elegant metallic hard cardboard slipcase featuring embossed details. The outer case was curated by the renowned industrial designer Marc Newson, who is himself a proud owner of a Bugatti Type 59.
  • Value: Given the prestigious positioning of the work, it is guaranteed to become a highly prized future collectible.

In short, this is not merely a book, but a true physical archive, designed for the most demanding collectors and for anyone who wishes to own the definitive compendium on the most beautiful and elegant Grand Prix car built before the Second World War.
