Synopsis and Contents of the Volume
Conceived by the author with an almost cinematic logic, this book represents the "prequel" to the previous successful book, "Volume Arancione" (which told the history of Genoese transport from 1973 onwards).
In this "Volume Verde," we go back in time to explore a pioneering and fascinating era: the narrative begins in 1921, the year the bus was introduced to work alongside the tram, and then moves on to 1938, the year the first trolleybuses made their appearance on the streets of Genoa.
Why "Volume Verde"? The title comes from the color that dominated the city's streets for decades. According to Circular No. 17369 of July 1928, issued by the Royal Ministry of Communications, green was in fact designated as the institutional and distinctive color for urban public transport vehicles during that specific historical period.
