BMW Boxer: almost no other motorbike concept has such a long tradition. For almost 100 years, the Boxer has been anchored in the collective memory and represents an important part of German technical and cultural history.

The first series-produced Boxer engine appeared in December 1920, and from 1923 it powered BMW's first motorbike, the R 32 half-litre. Up to the Second World War, several models consolidated the brand's sporting reputation, won on circuits, set world records and were also used in the war.

This second volume of BMW Boxer 100 Jahre Faszination deals with BMW motorbike production in the post-war period between 1948 and 1969, with the first production motorbike being a single-cylinder model, the R 24.

Before getting into the development of the Boxer models from 1950 onwards, the authors focus on the production of aircraft engines, which was BMW's main activity from 1917 to 1945.

All Boxer models, from the R51/2 to the R 51/3, the R 67 series and R 68, the R 50, R 60 and R 69, up to the improved /2 series, with the R 50 S and R69 S sports models, and the US versions, are described in detail. Technical data, serial numbers and records are also included.

Contemporary historical contexts are also illustrated, and there is also a look at BMW's small cars with boxer engines and the company's reorganisation from 1960 onwards. Ample space is given to BMW's motorbike racing history, with the Boxer in single and sidecar versions, from 1947 to 1969.

BMW Boxer 100 Jahre Faszination - Band 2: die Nachkriegszeit has 230 pages and no less than 500 pictures.
