Founded by Jochen Neerpasch in 1972, BMW Motorsport has grown into a truly independent company unrivalled in the automotive industry.
Initially focused on racing, BMW's sports division moved in a new direction at the end of the 1970s, developing and producing a range of high-performance cars whose design was inspired by insights acquired in racing.
Recognisable by the M logo, these models enhanced the sporty character and technological image of the Bavarian range and became a benchmark for all enthusiasts. The BMW Motorsport division has also distinguished in all disciplines of motorsport.
