Designed by Ferdinand Porsche, the Volkswagen Type 1 was an almost perfect technical platform. Simple, reliable and solid, the most famous German popular car would give life to many other models.
These included derivatives of the Beetle, either in the official Volkswagen range or, later, models from independent manufacturers. From the magnificent Karmann Ghia sports coupé (Type 14 and 34) to the eye-catching Type 2 Combi, the soul of the Beetle is always present.
This book sheds light on the models derived from the Beetle, such as Combi, Buggy, 181 and Type 3 series. Not forgetting the Beetle itself, a true icon in automobile history. There is also the Brasilia (type 321) and the very exotic 356 Speedster replicas.
