The Trieste-Opicina motorcycle, together with the most long-lived automobile competition, has remained a mythical race in the popular memory of the city, also for its fast and beautiful track, which winds from curve to curve for 9 km from the city to the karst locality.
And yet just nine editions of the famous motorcycle hillclimb took place between 1920 and 1933, to which were added the two competitions of the immediate post-war period and the celebratory one of 1958, all organized by the Moto Club Trieste.
Also for this reason, beyond the legend, it was not easy to reconstruct the events of those competitions, find chronicles and images of the time, recover names and numbers, make the biographies of the main protagonists re-emerge from the few documents available.
But it was worth it. The motorcycle Trieste-Opicina, today rediscovered, finally has its story: a story that develops from the glories of the '20s and' 30s to the beginning of mass motorization, fascinating for its sporting contents, but also for the aspects linked to the costume and technical evolution of the two wheels.
