An autobiography published in the early 1960s, when "the Drake" was already the most famous Italian in the world, updated and enriched over the next two decades.

Enzo Ferrari tells us of his fascination for engines and the dream of becoming a racing driver, cherished since he was a child. The difficult years of war, races with Isotta Fraschini and Alfa Romeo. Then the foundation of Scuderia Ferrari, victories, legendary drivers. Until the death of his son Dino, who will forever make every joy 'terrible' for him.

Those of Enzo Ferrari are pages full of curious anecdotes, such as when, having to outdrive Mussolini in a Rossa, he lost him on the hairpin turns of the Apennines.

And also, the lapidary technical and human judgments, not always flattering, on drivers who competed for him: from the unexpected Nuvolari to the indecipherable Fangio, from the Garibaldian Ascari to the disconcerting Mike Hawthorn, up to the punctilious Niki Lauda.

The first edition of this book with the title Le mie gioie terribili appeared in 1962; with the title Le briglie del successo in March 1970.

8th edition: November 1970.
