In 1946, Italy was a nation on its knees, eager to leave behind the rubble of World War II and begin a grueling but vital process of reconstruction.

In this historical context, the absolute priority for the transport industry was to get the population moving again by offering mobility solutions that were both basic and highly affordable. While countless small manufacturers launched themselves into this endeavor, it was a historic and prestigious brand that left an indelible mark: Moto Guzzi.

In that very year, the Mandello del Lario-based company introduced its Motoleggera 65, which would soon capture the hearts of the Italian people under the affectionate nickname "Guzzino" (Little Guzzi).

Matteo Comoglio's book chronicles the genesis and extraordinary rise of this model: a small, spartan two-wheeler with almost negligible running costs, capable of covering an impressive 45 kilometers on a single liter of fuel mixture.

Despite its utilitarian vocation, the Guzzino was no mere "clip-on engine" for bicycles; thanks to a more generous displacement than traditional auxiliary motors and a complete tubular frame, it was, in every respect, a real miniature motorcycle.

Moto Guzzi "Guzzino" - Le guide ASI traces the technical and commercial evolution that led to the success of the first series and the subsequent development of the B and C versions, up to its natural successor, the "Cardellino," which saw its engine capacity increase first to 73cc and later to 83cc.

However, the work goes beyond mere technical specifications: it celebrates a unique era in which the Guzzino became a cultural phenomenon, a vehicle capable of fostering deep social aggregation, and an extraordinary instrument of freedom.
