Paolo Pileri starts racing in 1968 and does so under a pseudonym: Richard. He is twenty-four years old and a great desire to arrive; the following year, riding an Aermacchi Aletta 125, he participated in the Italian Junior Championship, finishing second.

Two more seasons in the Junior category, followed by the transition to Senior and, on the occasion of the 1973 Austrian Grand Prix, the debut in the World Championship riding a 125cc DSR.

In the same year the first world championship podium arrives, in the 250cc in Belgium, on the Spa Francorchamps track where he finishes third.

That of 1974 is for a transition season dedicated to the development of Morbidelli, of which in the meantime he had deservedly become official driver, replacing Angel Nieto who moved to Derbi.

1975 is the year of triumph: seven GPs won with a third place in France at the seasonal debut. Paolo is 125cc World Champion eighteen years after Libero Liberati.

He is a simple and taciturn man, characteristics that have accompanied him throughout his life and this, combined with the fact that Terni is no longer the post-war city that had linked its desire for rebirth and redemption to the myth of Liberati, he makes his exploits live in a perhaps somewhat detached and critical way.

Paolo Pileri still has twenty world podiums, eight victories, five pole positions, five fastest laps and, above all, his World Championship and one last GP in 350cc in France in '79.

In fact, when he stopped wearing the leather suit, his manager career began, on this side of the wall.

It is 1986, with him is his brother Francesco and a very young Giampiero Sacchi.

A new challenge and, once again, an entirely Terni challenge that will lead to the triumphs of Loris Capirossi and beyond.
