The Porsche 914 was a joint project of Porsche and Volkswagen and, from 1970, was the new Porsche base model.

The two-seater car also known as "VW-Porsche" was a mid-engined sports car. The noticeable design features were the very wide wheelbase for the length of the car, the low overhangs, the removable central part of the roof made of fibreglass-reinforced plastic, and large safety brackets. In addition, 914 had retractable headlights.

Porsche 914 caught by camera, published in 1991, is one of the first books dedicated to the Porsche 914. It contains a historical profile of the car, including the racing versions, technical specifications and an extensive photo overview.
