Lele Pinto was one of the first professional Italian drivers in the 1960s and 1970s and a character who wrote indelible pages of Italian rallying.
He became a driver following in the footsteps of his elder brother Enrico, Italian circuit speed champion in 1966 on a Fiat Abarth 595.
Racing with Fiat and Lancia, Lele soon became one of the leaders of Italian rallying, and also successfully competed in some hill-climbs.
His best season remains 1972 with the Fiat 124 Sport Spider, when he wins the European Rally Championship and the Mitropa Rally Cup, triumphing in six rallies.
In 1974, still on board the Fiat 124 Abarth, he won the Rally of Portugal, valid for the World Rally Championship.
Returning to Lancia, on board the Stratos he came third in the Rally of Portugal and in the 1976 Rally of Sanremo, and finished second in the 1977 Tour de Corse, until he became a test driver for many years in the Fiat-Lancia Group.
A detailed reconstruction of his sporting career and his cars. Even the Osella of the hill-climbs. Tales and illustrations. Up to his career as a test driver.
