Forty years after its presentation at the Geneva Motor Show in 1980, the Audi quattro now receives the recognition it deserves in the form of a unique picture book.

Author Dirk-Michael Conradt, Audi driver and engine journalist, in collaboration with Audi Tradition, traces the history of this extraordinary Audi model, from the prototype to the final model.

With all the technical and production data, basic information and curiosities are provided and more than 350 images, partly unpublished photos from the Audi archive.

The five-cylinder in-line engine made for a hoarse voice, the digital displays installed inside from 1982 onwards, made for a futuristic look, and the angular body design, with the characteristic dual headlights, had a high recognition value.

This successful package was crowned by the victories of the sports variant: Walter Röhrl's at the Monte Carlo Rally in 1984 and the driving record at the Pikes Peak Hillclimb in 1987 cemented the halo of the all-purpose sports car.
